Sorry Jonnty,

I have no idea where it was taken but it is at the very least 50 years ago. My husband's family came from Brussels St. on the Shankill and one brother Bobby Henry is in the picture, the other brother Billy and his 2 sons are not in that picture for some reason. Do you know anyone in it?  I think it has been taken in front of a prefab house, maybe???

Hi Val,

It is a wee bit before my time.
I thought that it may have been an earlier date.
I will ask my older sister or my brother-in-law if they know anyone.
If I learn anything I will let you know.

Sorry to butt in but has anyone information on a Angelo Davison Memorial Pipe Band from Shankill in the 1930's. My grandmothers brother william McCluskey was chairman of this band according to her death notice and I can find no trace of this part of family

Angelo Davison Memorial L.O.L. 603

Meeting in Ballymacarrett Orange Hall this lodge can boast 30 members, most of which joined when the lodge moved from Belfast Orange Hall in the early 70's with, at that time, a membership of only 7.

Maybe someone from here could help.

Hi Val,

I asked my sister and brother in law if they knew anyone in the Shankill Amateur pipe Band.
The man on the left of the picture is called Bobby Harkness who came from Joseph Street.
There was a Jimmy Wilson who was a piper in the band at that time , but they could not identify him in the picture.

Jonnty

fred g,

I had two uncle's who were members of Anglo Davison pipe band, I have a picture of the band which was taken over 70 years ago.  I also had an uncle who was a member of either Shankill Amatuer or Ulster Amatuer pipe band, they practiced in Paris Street. My granda was a member of Victoria temperance flute band from the Shankill Road, I still have the drum he played, he died before I was born so I treasure his drum.

Annabelle.

Any luck with the picture of the Angelo Davison Memorial Pipe Band
Would be very interested to see it
Also a recent Orange Standard had the story of who Angelo Davison was
