Without doubt, the best fish, chips, and pasties in the East were from Eddie Spence's. Eddie is not frying anymore, and on a recent visit, I have to say, that what I got tasted nothing like it used to.  Bishop's off Shaftesbury Sq, I reluctantly admit, was far tastier.
The only thing greater than the amount that I care, is the amount that I don't.

Eddie Spence's Fish & Chips were special, so were Ritchie's on the Woodstock Road. There were a few good chipies around that area and we often sat in and enjoyed a supper in Elsie's in Cherryville Street.
But, for the best Pasties you had to go to Johnny Wright's on the York Road.

Spences now called the Willow on the Beersbridge road, followed a close second by Mr JD's on the Newtonards road.

I was always a Sea Fry fan - on the Knockbreda Road

(although Ritchies was closer to home - but given that the Boss was my physicis teacher I always avoided it  ;))

Richies.... Castlereagh Road  for fish supper's, but Jinnie's beside Manderson Bridge on the Newtonards Road made the best pasties. ..  O0
Ritchies is known as the best chipshop in the world in my workplace, Jinnies was
absolutely filthy though as you say they did great pasties. Back in the sixties when I was a kid The Trafalgar , and The Royal on The Beersbridge Road were the business.
