Immigrants, Planters and Settlers.
« on: October 01, 2006, 09:15:29 AM »
Some of you may be trying to get back to ancestors in the 17th Century. This is difficult are there are not too many records for that period so I'll do my best to find as many helpful sites as possible and add them to this thread. The 17th Century started with the Settlement of the Scots in 1606 (mainly in counties Antrim and Down),  the Flight of the Earls in 1607 and the Plantation of Ulster in 1611. The BBC Wars and Conflict contains interesting information about the Plantation. As you will see when reading the articles many of our problems of today stem from those days. 1n 1662 the Irish Parliament passed a law allowing the Huguenots (French Protestants) to immigrate to Ireland.
