Getting BMD certificates
« on: October 06, 2006, 10:33:42 PM »
I recently searched the indexes for post 1845 Prot marriages and found 2 possible entries I might be interested in. They are Alexander Balfour marriage 1845 Galway and James Balfour marriage 1847 Belfast. What is the quickest and most cost efficient way of obtaining these certificates now that I have the location, volume and page number?

P.S. Christopher you contacted me earlier today as I was in attendance at UHF conference.       Penny S.   Canada

Welcome to Belfast Forum, Penny.

I have no experience of getting certificates but I've no doubt you will soon get a reply from one or two members who know the procedure.

Christopher.

Hi Penny here is a good site for getting certs for the North of ireland

http://www.familyulster.com/family_ulster_records_BMD_requests.htm

you can get the cert DETAILS of the Belfast marriage 1845 for 3.50 but if you are wanting a copy of the Cert you would be better applying to the GRO (general record office)
of Dublin for both since they were before 1922.

Here is the a link for the Dublin GRO

http://www.groireland.ie/fees.htm

you see you can get all BMDs of Ireland at Dublin GRO up to 1922 but after that you have to Apply to Belfast GRO for BMDs in the North of Ireland.
