not sure if this is in the right place. it is a copy of an invoice to L Mackie (one of the James Mackie & sons family) who farmed in the Whiteabbey area, 5 gallons of petrol 1949 cost
0-10-7.1/2 thats two & tuppence hapenny a gallon old money.

Very interesting Harry....    I think thats  Two shillings and One and a halfpenny per Gallon.   ;)    I dont know how we ever done math using Pounds, Shillings and pence.   ???
I used to be indecisive.   Now I'm not so sure.

 0 10s 8d  from 1949 would have been worth 13.52 in 2007 using the retail price index  comparisons  O0

John I know it well as i worked not far from it for33years it has changed a lot over the years used to be able to go into and buy car spares spark plugs, points etc,etc ,for your old bangers.
