Twenty four hour opening hours might not be a bad idea. Extending them until 2.00am still creates the same type of problem. Many musicians, their fans and friends like somewhere to unwind after a gig ... a place where they can meet fellow musicians who have been at gigs elsewhere. These meetings can turn into great sessions where guitarists may find themselves playing their instruments alongside musicians from different types of groups. Three guitars, a squeeze box, a banjo and a bodhrán sound really great in the wee small hours. One of those guitarists happened to be a young lass with a powerful voice who sounded great with such a combination of instruments. Do any of you remember the crowds who gathered at Kens at Bridge End after the Saturday night dances. The Showbands on their way home from Capronis usually made Kens their first stop for a bite to eat. A few places with twenty four facilities where people can get a drink, a bite to eat, and if they wish, listen to or play more music are what Belfast needs.
