We had a GLORY HOLE under the stairs. O0

We also had a an opening at the top of the stairs to get into the attic.

We kept the coal in the back yard, we did not steal each others coal in my

neighbourhood. ;)

Yea!! that's why you [censored] off to Canada ;D ;D

A glory hole was thus called because it was the roof space - closest to the heavens 8)

Under the stairs was what we called the coal hole. You'd wonder how the coalmen were able to  get their coal up yer hole. :-\  People used to say that because of coal holes, they had a lot of cockroaches ( we called them Clocks )  does anyone know why people called them Clocks?
If you don't do it you won't get caught.

It's easier, try getting a 2 or 3yo to say "Mum there's a cockroach"
