Any exiles from East Belfast?
« on: February 07, 2009, 05:16:05 PM »
If you're an exile from east Belfast the East Belfast Herald might like to hear from you.
It could be a good way of contacting old friends still living in that area of the city.

Do you remember Mrs Rainey's wee shop, in her house, she was open all hours for sweets and cigs, and sold the boys one cig at a time !!
What age were you went you left there, our paths may have crossed. ??? :)

Deke. Do you remember the Dobby van coming around the estate in the evening. He used to stop at the corner of Cooneen Way and the Straight.

I think he stopped at different parts of the estate TC, I believe he stopped at the upscale part of the estate first (Mt Merrion) before heading up your way.

The Cregagh Estate from the Rocky Road. The field where George Best first played for Cregagh Boys Club.

Whoops. Sorry. Made the photo a wee bit too big.

I think the building was started a little after 1945 Deke.

I think we moved in around 1948. I remember the top part was built first though I wouldn't bet the house on that.
