Would anyone have information on the Valente family in Belfast.

Hi I know some Valente's in north belfast and I think there are some in West Belfast somewhere? Just remembered the Valente cippie in andytown may be able to help you out.

Hi italalianirish,

Welcome to the Forum.

There are three Valente families listed in the 1960 Directory.

Emerald Ancestors database contains five Valente marriages which took place in Belfast ... 1887, 1898, 1906, 1910 and 1913. It doesn't have any info relating to Births, Census Records, Deaths or School Registers for Valente.

There also used to be a Valante chip shop on the Cullingtree Rd.

Italianirish, is Dominico Valente (born in the early 1860s) a member of the family you're researching?

Italian names were on the rolls of many Belfast Schools including Campbell College ;)

A few marriages:
11th Feb 1887 Domenico Valente married Teresa Capitano at Belfast Roman Catholic Church Belfast Urban 2 Belfast County Antrim.

21st Feb 1898 Vittorio Cirefice married Petronilla Valente at Belfast Roman Catholic Church Belfast Urban 2 Belfast County Antrim.
 

7th May 1906 Anthony Valente married Anne McStravick at Belfast Roman Catholic Church Belfast Urban 12 Belfast County Antrim.

18th June 1910 Francisco Valente married Henrietta Magee at Belfast Roman Catholic Church Belfast Urban 2 Belfast County Antrim.

4th Feb 1913 Thomas James O'Toole married Monica Carina Valente Belfast Roman Catholic Church Belfast Urban 15 Belfast County Antrim.

If you look at the Irish Census for 1911 there are two Valente families listed living in Belfast
Francis aged 20 - Organ Grinder - born Belfast
Hetti             19                                          "
Francis Charles 6months                            "

Anthony   aged 25   -  Ornamental Painter   -  Born Belfast
Annie                22                                                     "
Domonick            4                                                     "
Madeline             2                                                     "

Francis lived in 17, Caroline Street and Anthony lived in 5, Nelson Street which was situated in an area which was called Little Italy
because of the amount of Italians who settled there.

Found another Valente who lived on the Castlereagh Road in Belfast

Silvestro    aged 42  -  Ice Cream Vendor  -  Born  Italy
Jean                   25                                                Scotland
Silvestro              4                                                 Belfast
Pio                       1                                                 Belfast

Silvestro may have lived in Scotland before moving to Belfast.

Checked Dublin for Valente's in 1911 but nothing showed up.

My name is Margaret Valente married to Peter Valente who was born in 1947, his father was Francis married to Margaret O'Toole.  This part of the family live in North Belfast.  Annie valente's chippie was owned by Francie's sister.

The streets where the two Valente families lived (Caroline Street and Nelson Street) were in North Belfast.  Caroline Street was between Little Patrick Street and  Great Georges Street and Nelson Street started at Great Patrick Street,  both in the York Street area.
I personally am not looking for information on the Valente family but ITALIANIRISH who is the first poster on this thread is asking for information so perhaps you could be of help to them.
