Annie Valente was my mother's Aunt she ran the chippy in Cullingtree Rd and she was from the Short Strand in East Belfast. A great lady I may add. She is buried in Milltown.
Be careful out there folks because they aren't.

Hi

It was my gr grandmother Annie <McStarvick> and her husband Antoino (Tony) Valente that owned the fish and chip shop on Cullingtree Road. Antoino was the eldest child to Dominico and Teresa Valente.

What would you like to know about the Valente's in Belfast?  :)

With Kindest Regards
Tina

well it proves they were british! :)

In reply to the above - after 10 years of research I have yet to find that the 'Valente' family are BRITISH - they came from Italy in c1880 through Scotland - not so British after all - sorry! Mr gr gr grandfather and gr gr grandmother are Italian born.  My gr grandfather is Irish born, my grandfather is Irish born, my father is Irish born and I am Irish born.  Five generations - British subjects but not British - sorry. :)

Jacqueline Nicholl 's grandfather was my mother-in-laws brother.  Hugh Nicholl and Elizabeth Nicholl were brother and sister.

Next time I speak to Aunty Jacqueline I will let her know    I am not too sure how much she actually knows about her family history.  Thank you for taking the time to speak to me.
With Kindest Regards
