Unfortunately Michael and Mary are both dead now.  Ann's middle daughter has been my best friend since primary school, we are still the best of mates.  Ann and Jim are both retired now, they have three kids and nine grandkids.
Does my face look bothered?

Hello,

I have just joined the Belfast Forum after searching for "Lady Street" and finding this thread.

I am researching my mother in law's family.

Does anyone remember the following families who would have been in Lady Street (number 4 and number 7 feature a fair bit) between at least 1911 right through to the 1950's possibly late 1950's, please?

Burns (particularly does anyone remember Dora Burns?)
Meehan
McAnespie
Fennelly (or Finlay as given on the census)
Kennedy
McWilliams

Kind Regards
Lana

i hate the way men can always put their coat on and leave. A strong woman will always pick up the pieces and cope with life.

Yes - in the summer of 1964 I went out for about three months with Kate McDermott from Lady St.  She was a beautiful little girl with gorgeous blue eyes and worked as a hairdresser.  Her best mate was Brenda Tully who lived near her but maybe in Cullingtree Road rather than Lady St.

Yes, Brenda Tully lived two door down from the police station.  I was talking to her brother Gerry a couple of weeks ago.

I knew Kate McDermott well she went to Irish Dancing with me.

Last I saw her she was living in Bangor, now that was around 1976.  I have seen her wee sister Eilish in Curleys the odd time.

Yes.  I also remember Eilish - she was just as beautiful as Kate.  They had an elder brother called, I think, Paddy.  Funny the things you remember - when I called at the house to pick up Kate her father always had a roaring fire in the grate even though it was the middle of Summer.

did you know micky tully

Did he live about 1/2 way up between cullingtree rd and the gateway to Lyle & Kinnigans, on the same side as the gateway?

Hang around with a few from cullingtree rd, maybe McCarry, McKenna ?
