I REMEMBER YEARS AGO A BONFIRE WAS LIT IN THE MIDDLE OF DUNMORE ST, IT WAS OUTSIDE A BLIND WOMAN'S HOUSE, SHE CAME OUT WITH BUCKETS OF WATER AND THREW THEM ON THE FIRE, IT WAS VERY SAD AS SHE WAS CLEARLY UPSET THAT HER HOUSE COULD BE BURNT,  I WAS VERY YOUNG BUT I ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT SIGHT OF THE POOR WOMAN TRYING TO PUT OUT THE FIRE,
JUS,

whatever

I knew a Salesian priest, Fr. Joe Deane, who came from Dunmore Street.  He would have been born around 1908

My grandparents, John and Hannah Connolly, lived in Dunmore Street for years until the mid 1960s. Anybody remember them?

Here is a great clonard picture, taken during the festival. Some faces include Bredan Kerr (RIP), who owned McGlincheys bar, good friends Chips Fusco and Rab Duffy, myself and Rab where in Manchester last week to see Utd. Ta OCallaghan is another one Ta now lives in the Basque country, he is standing with his friend Paul Anderson, Paul lives in the Oldpark now. Another friend of mine is Patsy Canavan, Patsty comes from one of Clonards most respected famalies and I was privilged to be a friend of her mother Rita (RIP) who was a real lady.
