Yes they are.  Having a tuff time at the moment, Debbie's son was badly hurt in a car accident and is very bad, can't do anything for himself. Only 23.

I know, Debbie and Ann spend everyday with him except Saturday. His Dad goes on Saturday, Ann needs the break so we usually meet for lunch and Debbie goes at night.

Would anyone have photos of Walnut Street prior to redevelopment?  I'm taking about 30's, 40's, 50's. I know its a long shot, but just in case.

Thanks

From memory I seem to recall Walnut Street used to be called Pine Street.  I could be totally confused and if I am would someone enlighten me please.

There has always been a Walnut street. Pine st is still there but it is only the length of the gable wall of the School of Music, leading into Elm st. There is now a Pine Way. A lot of the original streets have disappeared.

Many thanks for that eastbelfastbabe because I always remembered Pine Street being across from Charlotte Street but only recently noticed that it had become Walnut Street.
I posted a photo on page 17 taken in 1967 from the front of Connelly's Citroen garage looking across the Pass with Pine Street on the sign on the wall of the Co-op.
Seems like every time I am down there something else has gone AWOL.   :o

Don't remember it being that far down.  I lived closer to Shaftesbury Square but my husband came from Erin st, and in my memories, Pine st was facing Apsley st, as it still is.

Sorry it isn't a very good photo but the street sign on the wall looks like Pine Street and I'm pretty sure I took that outside Connelly's on the corner of Charlotte Street.    It was a long time ago though.   ???

Thought about this, the Ivy Bar was at the corner of Walnut st, facing Charlotte st, so if you are right, ( which you probably are) the Hideout is at the corner of Pine Way/Street. I should know, as I only left the Pass a few years ago and I have been over at the Chinese Wholesalers a lot. I will ask my daughter, she should know.

I think you are right eastbelfastbabe because Pine Street is still there with the Hideout on the corner.  I must have taken that photo a bit further up, perhaps at W J Chambers bike shop but I am hoping that the store in the background was the Co-op with the excellent butchers adjoining.  Hope someone has a better memory than me because this is all making my head hurt.

The shop was definitely the Co Op. Remember it well, first time with my mother in law  to order coal, she made sure she got the Divi. :D
