Cycling to work
« on: January 29, 2007, 06:12:15 AM »
I'm wondering whether the Department for Regional Development Roads Service campaign which promoted alternative modes of transport, especially for shorter journeys, was a one day wonder. Have any members
heard more about these plans since June 2004 when commuters were urged to get on their bikes in a bid
to solve Northern Ireland's growing traffic congestion problems and tackle obesity? Employers across the
province encouraged staff to ride bicycles to work and leave the car in the garage, as part of Bike2Work
Day on Wednesday 16th June. The Belfast City Council even went as far as offering a free breakfast and
free bike parking to commuters brave enough to take up the challenge.

What about all the cycle lanes that have popped up all over the place?
