Greyghost....living here we really don't have a Winter and I sometimes miss it.  However as I get older I feel more relaxed and spend less on heating and clothes.  I spent last Northern Winter in China so at the moment I am happy with the weather...sam. :)

Hello Dave.....great to hear from you. .it is Summer ....but it is one of the coldest habitable places on earth during the Winter.  Quite a place for B.F. meeting.
How are you enjoying the stay and how long will you be in China for this time.?  Don't talk to any steel people otherwise it could mean jail and don't say the word s.p.y. or break it up otherwise it's no more internet for you. .seriously??? :)

Sam,

They seem to like the winter here, there's a lot of talk about it and they are famous for their ice sculptures.
I'm just here for a few days to attend a conference http://www.ccs-cicc.com/CICC-6/English/Index.htm
and project meeting.
It's a bit chaotic, but so was last year's conference.

Haven't seen anything of the city yet, but we are going for a tour on Wednesday and I have Thursday free, then back home on Friday. My Chinese colleagues have been advising me about keeping my nose clean ...

Dave,

There is a special word for that and it's called.....bribery which is alive and well in China.  Everyone is a friend but you can have special friends.   The people are amazing and most of the country seems to have lots of Buddist temples. :)
