Not at all - I'm happy if it's of use to anyone.

I WAS thinking about you today.  My husband is going to buy me a digital camera for my birthday.  I had a look in PC World, Currys and Boots.  There was a Sony one that I liked. I would imagine that they're are all quite similar and it's probably down to personal choice, but do you have any advice.  I love your photos - is yours just a point and shoot camera?  I havent been working for the last few months, and I've put on some weight because I've been sitting around;  I thought it might be an incentive to go out walking if I take photos like you do.  I've got an appt at the city hospital tomorrow so I think I'll call into Belfast and buy the camera.

hiya do you have anything in the directory for downshire park centra, north and south many thanks

Hi Soda Farl, there is a Downshire Park Central, East, North and South.  They are quite long and will take a while to type.  Do you want all of them or is there something in particular you would like.  I'm happy enough to type them if they are of interest to you.

Thanks Shaz  :-* - Here's my camera: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-Digital-black-Camera-Optical/dp/B000B5KFHC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246387565&sr=1-1 - i have had mine about 4-5 years now - and i think it's brilliant, but of course there's been more updated versions, since i purchased mine. I bought mine on Amazon. As you will see, it's a straight forward point and shoot. I like it because it's so compact and yet has a great screen - also has good video on it too. I think it's a great idea - and wish you a happy snapping time  :D

Northern Ireland
HC Deb 19 February 1959 vol 600 c95W
Captain Orr asked the Postmaster-General what is now the number on the waiting list for telephones in Northern Ireland; and how this compares with previous years.
Mr. K. Thompson At the 31st December last there were 2,757 outstanding applications for telephones in Northern Ireland of which about half were under inquiry or in course of being met. This compares with 3,519 in 1957, and 4,766 in 1956. We installed 5,756 new telephones in Northern Ireland in 1958, and hope to be able to install a similar number in 1959.

Hi Shazza,

My Fathers side are from Liffey St, Manor St, Nore St, my Aunt had a shop there in Manor Street her name was Dolly Hagan.  Her Daughter Irene had a Hairdresser's shop as well.  They all moved to Canada years ago.

Erin.

When I was a young girl, I sometimes stayed with my granny at the weekend.  She would take me round to Dolly Hagan's and sit me on the counter, and ask me what I would like.  I would choose a luckybag or a wee sweetie bracelet or something, and my granny would tell Dolly to 'put it in the book' and she would settle up at the end of the week.  :)

Dolly would have a 'Christmas Club' and my granny would save to buy me a dolly or something.

I vaguely remember Irene's hairdressers.

I spoke with my cousin today, who is older than me.  She remembers Dolly well and her husband 'Big Rab' who she said was a quiet man.  She thinks their son was also called Robert, and was handsome and married a lady much older than himself, and the two were very happy.  She thinks he bought 'Hook's old shop' at the corner of Barrow Street.

It's a small world.  I was laughing to myself with so much joy when I read the words 'Dolly Hagan' this morning.

My granny died when I was 11 yrs old.  Her name was Agnes (Aggie) Mullan.  You brought back memories of happy, simple days.

Thanks, Shazza
