I used to sell the Telegraph in it for Paddy Lester.  Inside smelt like a Jam Tart (FART) One Saturday I went in and my big Bro was sitting having a swally,  he was 14 at the time.  When I got older me and my mates used to bunch up and get a couple of gallons before going to the disco.  We would have drunk it in the car park at the corner of Millfield, where the Black Taxi place is now.  The RUC would come in and break the flagons after they poured the scrumpy out if we weren't quick enough to drink it.  We used to bring lollipop sticks with us so we could fish out the dead flies.

The Foresters was above the Spanish Rooms at the corner of Hastings Street on the other corner was the RUC Barracks.  They had abalcony with the Foresters name on it. I believe it taken to their new premises when they moved to Albert St.

When the Spanish Rooms closed down we followed them to The Clorane Bar in Gresham Street and the scrumpy there was cleaner.

McMahon's who's family owned the Jig in Coates Street, lived a couple of doors away from the Spanish Rooms.  They also owned the Astor dance hall off Castle Street.

It's amazing when you think back about the various bars you drank in - my wife (then girlfriend) drank in the Chlorane Bar in Gresham Street, then we went across to Peter's Bar/Gresham Lounge beside North Street - this was 1974/1975.  On 5 Jun 1976, five people were killed in the Chlorane Bar.  Sad times!  Kids today ...

Spacer, yes we all got scrumpy from the Spanish Rooms and imported it to the middle class area of tyhe Upper Ormeau Road. Where a certain ginger headed teenage boy fed it to girls from McGlades. Understand that person is now residing in Scotland.  Jackdaw is in Lake Garda at present at his daughters wedding !!! When are you coming home along with your mate Mad Dog from Troon !!!!
