Mine was at Roneo Vickers in York Street - about 1968. Didn't stay long, moved to Howsons (electrical wholesalers) in Orby Road.

Left school on a Friday (15 yrs old) started work on the Monday in Kennedy & Morrison on the Boucher Road.
Three days later someone welcomed me by placing two bombs on the trade counter!   :o

That was about 1975.  The Boucher Road, Apollo Road and surrounding areas were quite isolated at that time.  I remember Guinness, Matro, possibly Eason's Warehouse - but can't remember too many other places.  Certainly not the hive of activity it is now.  I'm going to quote BobDenn (and all those other OLD people!) - 'I remember when that place was all fields.'  :D

Marks & Spencer's in '69 - they were soo very good to their staff and their training was terrific. Loved their christmas dinner. Made some good friends here and left approx '70 or '71. They had their own canteen, hairdresser, chiropodist and doctor!
