What about the dinner hut?
Remember the band hut, (which was a black nissan hut). Mr Flagherty showed old Walt Disney movies there at times 1950/52.

Hi All

I wonder if anyone can help me shed some light on the Luneys?

We have a bible that was given to my Great Grandmother Sarah Fletcher boyd  when she married Thomas Giffen in Canada, and she has inserted alot of Births, deaths, and marriages within the family,

In the bible i have came across the death of Rose Luney 27th  October 1936 and also a Catherine Luney 23rd May 1954

Looking at the NI Census 1901 in river St is shows Rose who married John Luney and they had Children John - (who married Matilda Davidson in 1910) , James William (in the 1911 census it shows him as James william thompson boyd), and Catherine Luney ( who married George Luney their  children were Agnes Mcbride luney and John luney).
i cant seem to find a marriage for John and rose to find out what Roses maiden name is (i'm hoping it will be Boyd) :(
Can anyone help :)

Many thanks Jac

Does anyone remember the time when the rumour went round Ligoniel that there was a 7ft man roaming round the Long Hall.He was the scourge of courting couples. It went on for quite a while!! Couple of points for anyone who remembers who the so called 7ft man turned out to be!

Thats right Ballysillan old boy, thewass should"fess up". By the way you said it wasnt Kyle. Well if you seen who it was you would laugh as he wasnt much taller. Dear goodness the girl who was "abandoned"by her boyfriend when the 7 ft man appeared did some screaming she couldve got a job at it. Will never forget the sight of her sprawkling down the Avenue in the high heels and the mascara everywhere. Its odd but i never seen her in ligoniel after that. Something mustve scared her. Lol
