Belfast artist in New York Exhibition
« on: June 12, 2006, 11:23:45 AM »
Agora Gallery in New York City presents  Collective Exhibition: Contemporary Art at its Best showcases art by Belfast artist Desmond O'Reilly.

Desmond O’Reilly’s portraits of flowers are sensitive studies in color and light. Similar to the work of Georgia O’Keefe, O’Reilly’s paintings look closely at flowers and draw out their subtle complexities of form. His color palette is elegant and understated; it is his treatment of light and shadow that creates the contemplative ambiance of the painting and adds an air of drama to the work. Each painting conveys a different emotion, evokes a different story in the imagination of the viewer. From a dark, moody portrait of an Aster lily to a captivating, expansive rendering of a Gerber Daisy, O’Reilly’s flowers represent a range of expressions. A graduate of St. Mary’s University College in Belfast, Desmond O’Reilly holds a Bachelor of Education in Art. He has exhibited his work widely throughout his native country of Ireland.
