1918-19 Spanish Influenza Pandemic
« on: March 20, 2007, 05:52:17 AM »
Patricia Marsh, MA is writing a PhD thesis titled "The effect of the 1918-19 ‘Spanish Influenza’ Pandemic on Ireland". Whilst Patricia is looking at the impact of this pandemic in Ireland as a whole the main focus of her research will concentrate on the Pandemic in the North of Ireland. Her research interests are in the Medical History of the late nineteenth Century and the early twentieth Century.

The Spanish Influenza pandemic caused 50,000,000 deaths throughout the world so it should be of interest to the genealogist as well as the historian. If your ancestors died around that time the Influenza may well have been the cause of their death.
