Motley, just to add to what belle has already explained, and she did it so well and what widz was saying.

A Novena is a set lot of Prayers done 9 times, some also can be done, 9 times a day - say on the hour. Or 9 days in a row. Another one I have done myself, over 9 Tuesdays.

Some Churches do have Novena's but have never proved as popular as the one held in Clonard - there is just something about it that has that 'pull factor' for so many people.  All are welcome and I know of some non-Catholic's who have faith in the Power of the prayers said there and attend it each year, as do many people from as far away as L/Derry.

The Novena in Clonard is held every Thursday all year round, it is continuous, so anyone can start it for their own intentions when the time suits them. Like belle has said, neither am I preaching nor trying to indoctrinate anyone, I accept and am opened to all peoples views on religion etc.  I'm just giving the information to the question asked, so having said that, I make no apologies for stating that, Clonard is one of the most beautiful experiences anyone could have if ones mind and heart is open to it that is.

Hope that helped.  :air_kiss:

You guys have been very helpful, thank you.

I'm probably putting this wrongly but,  .it's hard to believe Belfast has such a bad reputation.

Who told you that Motley   never heard anybody talking about us before. Tell us who they are and we'll stick one on them.
And then say a wee prayer for them at the Novena. :(

Belle, how can our wee town have endured hundreds of years of strife when her people are truly the salt of the earth? It just doesn't make any sense.  :(
