Hi Adrienne my mother was Violet McCormick.she told me a story about my grandfather re marrying in England. And that his new wife/family knew nothing about his wife/child in Belfast.

I am looking to find any information about my father JAMES MALLARD/MCCORMICK/MCCORMACK.

He was a Walter Mitty character who did not always tell the truth so it is not always possible to decide which is fact and which is fiction.

His name was originally MALLARD as he was illegitimate then became MCCORMICK and then for some reason changed it to MCCORMACK when he married my mother in England..

He had previously married a Charlotte Pitson in 1928 and had three children Jessie, Violet and John.  During this time he may have been working at Harland and Wolff or Ranks Flour Mill.

His stories range from being a merchant marine fitterer (no trace at the Kew Archives) to working on dredgers to escorting The Queen Mary into New York Harbour and also having been  in Trinidad.  How much is true is hard to say.

He mentioned having seen some very horrible disaster during his time in Belfast which he said scarred him for life and I am wondering whether this is connected with the blitz in Belfast in l941.

Does anyone know any of the names I have mentioned please.

Many thanks.

Adrienne

Hi Adrienne (aunt). My name is Gayle. Violet would be my mum. I really hope we get connected. What's the chance that 12 years later, I stumble upon your post when searching my grandmother's name Charlotte Pitson....

Hi Gayle - my name is Beverley. Your grandfather was my grandmother Jessie McCormack/ Graham's sister. So we must be related somehow. Found your post when looking for Jessie's family history. They were both descendant's of Jessie Ann Mallard/McCormack. I had found your mother on ancestry and my mum told me the story of what your grandfather had done. My father James, moved to England so we haven't much contact with the few remaining family members in Belfast. Hope you are well.
