Nothing on UTV News 30 minutes ago, or on the BBC website just now

I am very sorry to hear of the death of Alex Higgins.

He was a very talented snooker player who never really fulfilled his real potential.

Rather than play the safe shot, he preferred to play to the gallery and try to please the crowd.  Thus he won only one world championship.

Nevertheless he was very exciting to watch and on his day he was world class.

RIP.

 :(

Go deannaigh Dia trocaire ar a h-Anam Alex, May God have mercy on his Soul.

As a youth growing up I spent many a thursday watching him play on pot black and when he played in the tournaments we all sat glued to the TV  to watch this fantastic snooker player, I am sorry to learn of his death and I hope that those that write epithaths or words pertaining to his life and sporting ability are kind to him as he was a Belfast boy and will be sadly missed but greatly remembered for being a light of hope where we Irish could beat the insurmountable odds and achieve greatness amongst the talented sports men and women in the world.

I salute your achievements Alex, now you will know no pain and are in the arms of the Lord and at rest, sleep well and in peace.
