Ignore him Desi. .He doesn't remember where he came from. .I heard Ponsonby Ave mentioned but we will try to keep a dignified attitude on this thread. :D

the australians are just being too careful , this actually is a lovely place to visit and yes we have our problems but i love here warts and all
Australia is one of the most beautiful and interesting places on earth.  Yes, Ireland is beautiful and the people are great, but one factor that really bothered me when I lived there for a year was the WEATHER!!  For someone coming from a country that is hot part of the year, the cold and damp are very difficult to put up with. Also, when you emigrate somewhere and live there for years, the mindset of the people is different from the place you left.  It's hard to go back sometimes.  Just my opinion.

I know Sally Ann.  My father came from Toomebridge, Co. Antrim, and all around there is just breaktaking.  However, when you have to work and travel in the rain lots of times, it gets a bit depressing.

Kateme, I know what you mean.  Having lived in Oz for 43 years, and enjoyed all those long, warm to hot summers, which have saved us tens of thousands of dollars in airfares travelling overseas just to get some warmth and sunshine, I could never go back to the mostly damp, miserable weather of the UK.  It would really get me down.  Also, as you say, your mindset and attitudes do change. However, I do treasure my memories of NI, and always will.
