I am nigh though , i think ppl are right its a brit termenology "The Ardoyne " as for "The Murph , i belive it was the Ballymurphy ones who says , " we come from The Murph " But i have been known to be wrong  if you were down the road , it would be said , !Up the Murph " ;)

However ,anyone saying THE ARDOYNE  or THE MURPH   can expect the following treatment

Nigh G , i have never seen the murph ones in that get up , who btw is THAT on the floor  . see them Murph ones , baddens  :D

Back to the topic, my mother came from Ardoyne not 'The Ardoyne', never heard her or mention any The.  I think the press coined that phrase.  With Ballymurphy, you said you came from Ballymurphy but also called it The Murph.

In saying this I really much prefer the native Gaelic names are used so from now onwards in respect to our Gaelic ascendancy it really should be known as Árd Eoin   .and Cullybackwards. .oops Cullybackey should also be referred to in future as Cúil na Baice ( The corner of the river bend ).
