Celebrating Local History Year 2006
« on: June 17, 2006, 10:12:09 AM »
I have just discovered this year is Celebrating Local History Year. There are costume drama tours, events, exhibitions, family fun days, historical boat trips and talks taking place throughout the north of Ireland. The object of the Celebrating Local History Year is to encourage people to learn more about the area in which they live. One way to do this is to join a Local History or Family History Society. You can also learn a lot more by visiting the Local Studies Library in your area, visiting a Museum or visiting the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland.

The following History groups are taking part:-
Armagh and District History Group
Glens of Antrim Historical Society
West Tyrone Historical Society

Other Historical Societies in the north of Ireland include
Abbey Historical Society
Ballyclare Historical Society
