Splendid photos CMcG, many thanks for sharing.
Would I be right in thinking that these are the trees once so famous for forming the long arch over the "endless road" from Belfast to Portrush in the Ford Prefect?
"Are we nearly there yet Dad?"
If they are then they are a sad sight today with so many gone, just the memories remain.
Stop the ride, I want to get off and go back.

   :)

The original and IMO the best Bond and also the beginning of my youthful love affair with Aston Martins.

Yes you’re right SamG , on the section of road between Glarryford and Ballymoney , as you say just a shadow of their former selves now unfortunately.

When we left in 1978 I remember they were fine but now back home and on our last trip up there there were indeed a shock and a sorry sight.

It’s like everything age takes its toll , the roots of the trees were originally used to support the road through the bog  , modern road building methods have done away with the need for that now and I presume it is not cost effective to replant the trees and maintain them . A part of my childhood gone , I was born and reared just three or four miles away from the Frocess .

Seemingly so many different spellings, Frosses for one and Frocess another. I always knew the area as Fosses which was obviously wrong but then a boy from Forman street didn't have spelling high on his agenda.  ::)
