under 50's ?
« on: May 04, 2007, 10:41:48 PM »
Anyone in the forum from East Belfast under 50?.  I went to Orangefield Girls Secondary School from 1972 - 1976, lived around Templemore Avenue/Castlereagh Rd area and used to frequent the "Blue Lamp Disco's" :-[  only entertainment around at that time for teenagers. Used to knock about the Bloomfield with my best mate Jenny Cousins. .sadly have lost contact with her over the years, so if anyone out there knows her i'd love to hear from you?....Stig x

The Blue Lamp Disco's took place in many locations.  I lived outside Belfast but attended many of these discos, they were run by the RUC Community Branch, my father was the Chairman of a local community association and these guys did the discos for him for many years.  They were always very well attended.

Hi Christopher, yes the Blue Lamp Disco's were run by the Community Service Branch, there were quite a few in the east of the city, East Bread Street(Bloomfield) Memal Street(Bridge End) Quinten Street(Castlereagh Road) Dee Street (Newtownards Road) Lord Street(Beersbridge Road) I know there were others but these are the one's that I attended most. If anyone out there attended I'd love to here from them?  Loraine x

Hi stig,

I hope you've not posted those letters as the names were in the 1960 directory.

Have a look at www.192.com There's at least one who might be worth a letter.
