Thanks CMcG, I saw your post last night it it looks like yourinformation is amazing, this is the first time I have been able to log in and reply, but just wanted to say thankyou, will take me a couple of days to go through but some of the names you have mentioned ring bells and tir in with some other info I had, so think you have helped immensely

Sorry a quick question with Francis Finlay James Bells first wife, how did you make the connection that her maiden name was Finlay, i have searched and can only find one Finlay who was a border at the house in 1911?

Starting with the family in Canning Place in 1911 ...

... I looked up the births for several of the children which confirmed the mother's maiden name, the one I'll attach here as an example is for Thomasina Bell in 1896, for that was a very uncommon name combination:

As another example, here's Joseph Bell born in 1908, this time the address matches the 1911 census address:

James Bell married Fanny Finlay in 1895, James was recorded as a baker and his father's name was a match for that in the subsequent marriage to Jane McDade in 1920 (ie. Thomas Bell):
