Any photos of 1st. or 2nd. years 1955?
No but a few months ago I was looking at a Simmarian owned by another ex-pupil. That was for 1959-60, I think. He talked as if there were magazines running back a few years from that date. So, there may well be some out there. If you or someone was there up until 1959-60 you / they may be in that mag I saw.

Going off topic for a moment, my daughter gets a Simmarian from St Mary's at Twickenham as she studied there.  Useless bit of info I know  :)

May I suggest that anyone looking for pics from the Simmarian year books get on the current web site and register as an alumni (past pupil) . It might be worth while and you could tie up with some old school pals as well. Go for it!

great pictures... I attended barrack street 1985-1988 before moving up the Glen Road,    the 2nd pic was the old locker room , spent many a class in there on the beak hiding, having a smoke :-( and the last pic was Slim Jim McCleans old classroom , our old handball coach and water polo coach.

Does anyone remember the 2 Fearon bros? Both teachers at Barrack st. Eddie taught maths and English ( maybe Latin too? ) and Joe taught science.

Mitcher suggested “McMahon” which rings more of a bell John, but I really can’t remember - I know that all he did was read from the geography text book which was poor teaching!

There were no editions of the Simmarian, John, during the period 1942-57. 1958 was the year it was revived. I have copies from 1958-61.

Not sure if this link has been posted on the forum before but I have pasted the link below just in case.

The Video contained in the link may be of interest to ex pupils and goes over some of the history of the School and features some of the old teachers and pupils.
The video lasts about 40 mins.

Really enjoyed that Citybloke, hadn’t seen it before; took me right back to Barrack Street!

Thanks for digging it out for us.
