I know it's a different 'city' but can anyone remember the smell of the Burnhouse in Lisburn? On a still summers day  if the wind was in the right direction you could get a draw from it in Kelly's Cellars
I had to work in it as an outside contractor once or twice, the first time we went to the place there were ten of us & evrey one of us threw rings round us the minute we got out of our van. :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad:
The funny thing was, after about our third day in the place we hardly noticed the smell  :D

Do you remember pubs always had a smell as you passed them, not smoke, it must have been the ould porter or guiness but you don't smell that anymore do you? :scratch_ones_head:

Yes I certinaly remember that smell Moonlight not to mention having to side-step the vomit that some drunken patron had left there on his way home. Gross.

I am not on the wagon or an ex Alcoholic I just never acquired a taste for drink.  I wouldn't care if I never had it. I'd rather have a bar of chocolate. :D

Every time i open a bottle sauce it reminds me of when i was a kid walking to school past a hijacked lorry that contained thousands of bottles of brown sauce....they were smashed all over the road and stank for yonks after that!

Still love the stuff on my jockies whips and stew though!

Hi Chink,

If it was the same lorry then it was outside St Vincents and St Finians schools on the road.

remember the smell of the auld gasworks ...phew. Pottingers entry waiting in a line of other kids outside the bookies , hoping daddy would win so he'd take us into Woolworths ,the smell of the guinness porter barrels outside the bars.....no wonder I grew into a raging alcoholic.
so drunk to hell I left the place , sometimes crawling sometimes walking

Gallagers feg factory along York St. The worse smell that made me puke was at the sorroco rope works , had to go in to recover some gear left behind by the sparkies , take the whif came from the sludge from the hemp fibres, boy that was someit else, naturally the folk that worked the spinners couldn't smell owt.
