Seeking friends from Gilnahirk Primary School
« on: June 25, 2006, 06:53:52 PM »
Val Bowden, from Abbey Road, Dundonald, Belfast, now living in Swindon, Wiltshire, England with her partner
(plus four cats and a dog) has asked me if anyone knows two brothers Colin and Howard Reid who were at Gilnahirk Primary School during the time she was there. Val was a pupil at Gilnahirk from September 1960 to April 1967 when her family moved to England. She kept in touch with Colin for a number of years. He was living in the Belmont area, near Stormont, with his wife and two children

Hiya Sam,

Do you recall the names of any of the pupils at Gilnahirk Primary in your day?
Val's not on the internet so I'll have to drop her a line via snail mail.

Chris.

Hi all,
This photo is taken in 1962. My first year of school at Gilnahirk PS. I am in the middle row second from the left. Opposite to where the teacher is standing.

you may want to get on to a web site called friends reunited.  I live in the USA and I have found many old friends from my primary school in NI from that.

Hi Sam, I had a cousin went to Gilnahirk Primary in the early 60's his name was Adrian Kelly, lived at 6 Geary Road. Sadly he was killed on his motorbike at the age of 18. Just wondered if you knew him?   ps. Great Pic  ;)

Hello,
I went to Gilnahirk Primary between 1957 and 1962. I knew Adrian well and in fact up until a few years ago I was in touch regularly with Glenn & Billy. They were lovely people and so sad when Adrian was killed - he used to call me wee Eileen.
Regards
Eileen

Hi and thanks for your reply. We were all very shaken when Adrian was killed and i know Billy and Glen never came to terms with it. Sadly Billy and Glen have both passed away and I like to believe that they are all reunited and happy once again?

Welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  Thanks.  Stig  :)

Hiya guys.
Have you not got any more pictures of your school days at Gilnahirk Primary ???
Sam, that's a great picture of your first year at school. Did you keep it in your wallet for a few years ???
I've the same problem with my bank pass book ... you should see the trouble the cashiers have putting
it through their machine when it gets creased.  8) How about seeing if the crease can be removed from
the picture by the guys at the Computers & Tech section of the Forum.

Hi Christopher, :)
I think I only have one of the individual photos. I'll find and post it. The reason for the crease is my Mum used to carry it in her handbag. I'll try the guys at the tech section. Thanks. Sam.
