hi im looking into my husbands side of the family  all i know is  his grandfather came from matilda street sandyrow belfast  and his, father was called william , richard left and came over to scotland but  passed away when my husband was a little boy we have heard william might have been a fisherman ?  so thats all we know  :( i would really appreciate any help any one can give  richard must have been in belfast in the 1940s i think thanks : )

do look up the 1911 census for Stevenson No 32 matilda Street Co Antrim

Head of the house is William in his 30's with a son Richard aged 12
The house has many lodgers inc an Andrew Stevenson aged 70, but not marked as a relative.  Good luck, Jim

 Below is what I found on the 1911 Census, at number 32 the a family called Burgess.

16 Matildia  Street, Sandy Row

Stevenson William 32 Male Head of Family – Occupation - SeaMan
Stevenson Bella 31 FemaleWife – Occupation - Wool Weaver
Stevenson Richard 12 Male Son
Stevenson Mary 10 Female Daughter
Stevenson Annie 6 Female Daughter
Stevenson Josephine2 Female Daughter

Hello My name is Freda my Great grandfather was Richard Stevenson funny he married Lucinda Lyons
and his name is Stevenson she died and in 1916 he married Elizabeth McBride and he is Richard Steenson
in the 1901 census the spelling is wrong again and they have him down in Matilda street as Stenson
for example my great aunt agnes  spelling was egness but the family name has remained steenson

also you will find them in 7 Matilda Street in 1911 under Steenson hope its the right family for you

now I am reading your mail more carefully not sure if our Richard is the one there seemed to be lots of cousins
around Matilda street and my own grandfathers home was 3  Matilda street

thank you win 45 yes i think  it is a diffrent stevenson as richard came to scotland and married a girl from ayr, i dont know when richard left belfast  but im pretty sure he is the one at 16 matilda street  i am trying to find out what bella s maiden name was  i asked my husbands cousin but she dosent know much except  the name marshall  was her mothers middle name  and something about them being gypsys but she dosent know if this was just a story she got told ? i know william stevenson my husbands g grandfather stayed in belfast for the rest of his days  i dont know anything  else  thank you all so much for the replys : ) xx

the steensons or stevensons  seem to be same family and they also lived in lots of houses in Matilda Street my own Grandfather lived at no 9 no7 and finally no 3
I was wondering if a family connection as have grave details of a Agnes Steenson 9 Matilda Street Dec 1891
age 50 I believe she was our Richards Mother
but also in that Grave is A william Steenson 49 Matilda Street died 1930 age 70 the other names in the grave are stillborn children
my own grandfather had a brother called william he died in 1956 age 57 My brother is going to see my mums brother this week he is 80 his name is Richard Steenson and knows a lot shall ask about a william and bella
