Aye Andy, some changes for the good as well as not so good. The hectic rush as if it was everyones' last day took me aback after living in quieter places for many years.
     Happy birthday when it comes.
Everywhere is changing and things are not so permanent any more.Years ago  vehicles and buildings were made to last to get best value .Nowadays things change so quickly that trends and fashions dictate the longevity of constructions.
What doesn't change in Belfast is the willingness of people to help you with an enquiry.

i have indian neighbours and they are the finest people one could meet.the wife is a nurse and husband a highly paid computer engineer.their children are delightful and polite and attend our local school.
the people of north belfast have embraced all our foreign guests unlike the more waspish areas of the city.
this world is but a narrow bridge, this bridge we all must cross.
so when you cross this narrow bridge be careful  how you walk.

"hi prester" you will find this up and down the country, the world
over, but sadly there is still an element in everyone that thinks
foreigners how are they going to fit in, we have an Indian family
who opened up a chippy in our village and they have hung
decorations up and the way some talk you would think a small
miracle had happened.

''where would the National Health Service be without the large number of overseas doctors and nurses.''

if our own government would adress the under funding of the nhs, staff would be less inclined to leave, thus there would be less need for the 'overseas' doctors and nurses.

Soaks we have the same problem here in Oz our hospital has mainly overseas doctors, they put them on short contracts it's a bit like putting a plaster on a sore.  :)
