Hi, this is Eileen Magee I'm new to this so not really sure how it works...I lived in 40 Ardenvohr St with my sister May and Patricia and my big brother Johnny Magee.
Hi Eileen, I was probably way ahead of you at St A's, I was O'Connor and I lived in Ravenhill Avenue.  Glad to see you posting - we're short of females on this topic  :( :(

Knocked about with Gerard Braiden in the 60's, getting up to all kinds of mischief, and through him got to be pally with Pearsie McCrory of Ravenhill Avenue.
Mr. Braiden senior was a Linfield fan, as was Gerard -
The only Linfield fan in west Belfast !!
Very sorry to hear about Patricia - a girl so full of life, as I remember.
Lived for dancing and music in those days.

Willowfield in the rare old times.

Older brother was Billy - like his Dad. I lived next door to them for many years in No. 19, and fine and decent neighbours they were too, despite the Dad supporting the Blues, an honest little man. ??Glens for the cup!!

Sorry, I should have added the location to which I referred was Willowfield Crescent at St.Anthony's, not their later address.

Billy Snr. made no secret of the fact that he was not from an RC background and that he supported the Blues.
Nevertheless a very decent, respectable and hardworking man.

Mickey O'Neill lived in Jocelyn Street.
He fought Paddy Graham, the Markets boxer for the Irish title.
Both of those boys could dig a bit !
Greg Brown was no competition.

Marty,

He was more than a local bully.
He lived in Twinbrook , Divis Flats and Lower Ormeau in 1971/72 when sectarian murders were rife and civil unrest was at it's height.
Not bad for a boy from the Cregagh estate.
Some say he was an agent, informer and triggerman.
Read the entry for him in "Lost Lives" by David McKittrick et al.

Speaking of Mickey O'Neill.

A couple of years ago I had reason to visit the old Legion hall in Montgomery Road on business.
Even grottier than in the "Ranch" days.
The old dance area at the front of the hall had been transformed into a lounge bar, of sorts, but the wee stage was still there.
The toilets were minging, as always, and the few windows that were not boarded up looked as if the glass had not been cleaned since Mungo Jerry were at Number 1.
Someone had the sense to knock it down and build a new hall.
Yet many a  good night was had in the "Ranch".
