Hi, I’m new to this but have really enjoyed reading and remembering! I lived in Ranelagh street, off Ravenhill Avenue and went to St Anthony’s from 1960 To 1967. Remember all the nuns some good and some sadists! Lived through the troubles and moved to Nottingham in 1975. Remember the Woodstock tartan and trying to avoid them and any girl gangs that were around also! Still, have very fond memories Despite all the horror. We took it in our stride.

Hi yes, I did know Pearcey and remember the night he was tragically killed. We were always worried that it would be our family next as I had 2 brothers, Michael, sadly passed away, and Noel who was much younger! It’s hard to believe we lived through so much.

Yes it’s strange to look back on those times and when I tell my friends here now about it they look at you with bewilderment! Lived in Southampton for 48 years as I was “ advised “ to leave myself and a couple of years later the house was brought up in was burnt down but fortunately my parents were here with me at the time for a holiday . But the world hasn’t learnt by the evidence of current affairs in America ! History only shows us the mistakes we will make in the future

St Colmcille's based in Ballyhackamore. They played at Ballybeen pitches. Before matches broken glass would be scattered on the pitch by a local welcome committee and the posts were frequently sawed down.  A leading club official was shot dead at his home in Grampian Avenue.  The club transformed into Bredagh based in the Ravenhill Road area. Bredagh is now perhaps the biggest club in Ulster in terms of membership.

Grampian Avenue is on the Holywwod Road, not too far from the arches. It was in fast a pipe bomb and not a shooting that killed the gentleman in 1973.
