Any one remember going up into "The Glen" up above the dual carriageway but i cant remember where exactly. had the river running through it and ropes from trees to swing, seemed an awful height at the time.

Spent part of summers up there.
We just called it the Glen also.
Officially?.Castlereagh Glen or Cregagh Glen.
Use too be an old Church at entrance..
It’s right beside Mc Caughan Park..on The Knockbreda Dual Carriageway .
Recall The Swing over The Ravine..seemed massive at the time.
Robbie Burns was the daredevil,he would climb tree, creep onto branch and tie the rope.
Waterfall was a just up stream.

Yes, I remember those cross country runs through Cregagh Glen in the late 1960s.
No risk assessments or H&S in those days.

We use too walk from St Anthony’s too Templemore Ave Baths..30 PS kids..1 Teacher.
PC Brigade would go crazy now...
Took a Kids Football Team..South Belfast News arrived to take a Team pic.
One of the parents would not allow her son in pic...imagine that in our day..
Suppose it was a lot more innocent in those Days..

yes I remember going to Templemore baths from school. always hated the place. talking about walks the longest walk I ever took { the bell should remember this} was when the st johns   group I was in took a 10 mile walk up the glens and wherever after that. I know we came down the Castlereagh rd home.

Yes ole lad the sponsored walk for St John Ambulance, went up by the Cregagh Glen as Marty correctly called it. Across the top of Rocky Road, started and finished in Mount Street Clinic. Then you had to walk home !!!
Then the classes were moved to Harding Memorial school.

Re/Marie Gent,I was wondering if you have received anymore info about Marie . you are the only person who is giving me any hope of finding or hearing anything about Marie.I know you said your sister wasn't very well and I wish her all the best  but in these times I think that we are all living in very worrying time's and a lot of people are ignoring the warnings which I think is very silly. Hope to hear from you soon , Thanks
