Olelad you are quite right but give me a wee bit of time and I'll try to find out for you. I remember it too and I asked Seamus Curran last night so leave it with us.

Olelad, I am reliably informed that the owner of the wee off licence was Harry Matthews who sold it on to Philip Russell. Seamus remembered. if you like you can pm me with your name etc so as I can tell him who you are.
Cheers

In the 1980's I think the bar was called The Eastender - I can't remember what it was called before then.  There also used to be a bar at the Cregagh Road junction with Ravenhill Avenue in the 1960's, was it The Cregagh Inn? - I'm not sure.  I also remember a small potato crisp factory near The Paragon called Knowles.

the cregagh inn wasnt at the corner of ravenhill ave it was at the corner of the next street up from it. cant remember its name just now (willowhomle dr ?) it was definalty there well into the 70s.
