« on: February 28, 2012, 04:28:26 PM »
Can anybody tell me the name of the building that was on the site of what is now the Martyrs Memorial Church at 356 Ravenhill Road? I believe it was some sort of maternity/nursing home.

Thanks in hope!

Thanks jimchelsea,

The year I'm interested in is 1965. I believe there was some sort of maternity/nursing home there because I've stumbled across some evidence of a distant relative who may have been born there

I'm not sure, because I have clues only, not a complete set of information.

I'm pretty sure I'll know when I find it, so I'm interested to learn why you suggested Bamford.

I was looking on the net for info for you and came accross a Bamford family tree, one of which was born in 1965 in that private nursing home, was just wondering

It would have been an amazing coincidence if your Bamford suggestion was the right one.  Unfortunately

My main problem is that I'm having no luck whatsoever in finding Belfast birth records online. I can't even get a result for your Bamford. I guess I'm looking at the wrong records.

Thanks Jim. I discovered those sites a couple of days ago. They seem to have little in the way of recent (1960s) records, as none of my searches produce any hits. I'm seriously contemplating visiting the GRONI in Belfast and searching its paper records - but I'm not at all sure if those records are indexed in a way that would enable a seach based only upon a birth date, address and partial name.  But I do enjoy a challenge!

Searchable online records only go up to 1921, so GRONI or PRONI are your best bet, or you could post what info you know on here, perhaps others could help.

With the aid of some of helpful information and suggestions from the Forum,  I've been able to confirm that it is the Banham family I need to research. From (at least) 1956 to 1881, members of the family lived at Ulsterville Place. Does anybody have any information about them?
