If you go to Rushlight Magazine website and click on the "Half Bap" section you will see some pictures from Edward St. I think somewhere on the Belfast Forum there may also be some pictures as well. Your surname is familar to me but I can't place you. I was born and reared in the Half Bap. Hung out in Thomas Hannon's wee shop. I am sure we both know a number of Edward St. residents - Rices, Boyds, Dunns, Grahams,McCourts, Gallaghers, Toners, McManus, McFarlanes, O'Rawes, Gibneys. I came from Academy St. lived there from 1945 - 1968.

Hi JimmyMack

Yes I am sure we knew the same people too? we used to go around to bap every sunday, I used to swing round the big lampost, and nearly all the boys would go round the bap on giders!! sure there used to a big showroom to the left, seem to remember big glass windows?? my grandad, daddy, and brothers used to play snooker in the little snooker hall all the time, everytime I looked in it was so smokey!!.
I remember a lot of the people so well,my best friend was the Tobitts across the road from 21 Edward st? trying to get in touch with her.
My brother Angelo has been back in the last few years,he lives in SA, I know he's been in contact with one of his old friends. he's older than me!!
Well thanks very much for replying.

Although not related to the McDowells, they were very close friends of our family. We lived opposite the Education Offices in Academy St.

mperucci, I used to play snooker also in that little club. Johnny Lynn used to look after it. I think he and his wife Ellen might have lived next door to it. I think your friend's name is Torbitt not Tobitt. I remember that family from Edward St, I think they moved to around Lancaster St. area in the redevelopment. I currently live in Canada, where are you living now?
The big showroom was Robert Kirk's Building suppliers and one time a bunch of us were playing with a handcart and it went through one of the big windows.

So Im guessing you would have known my eldest brother Emmanuel, he used to go to the Plaza and knocked about with the Corrs, Hindu and Frank.
