Ballynure Old Graveyard
Hume - Erected by Thomas Hume in memory of his father James Hume died 6 Sep 1873 aged 42 years.
Also his sister Jane died 12 Apr 1864 aged 6 years.
And his brother Robert died 8 Dec 1884 aged 28 years.
Also Jane who died in infancy.
And his brother James died 4 Mar 1907 aged 33 years.
The above named Thomas Hume died 24 Sep 1908 aged 48 years.
Interred in Letterkenny.
Also his mother Eliza Hume who died 14 Mar 1916 aged 84 years.

Nothing for Elliott.

Hi valkerr,

If you have the time could you please look for the surname Beattie, particularly for
Nathaniel Beattie and James Beattie.

Thank you it's very much appreciated.

There’s Edward, John, George, Wm. John and Robert Beattie, no Nathaniel or James.

Hi valkerr,

I was wondering if you could see if there are any Marsh names in the book. They had a family plot in Carrickfergus, but I am unsure which cemetery. John Henry died in 1918 and his daughter Jane or Jeannie died in 1906.

Thanks in advance,
Kanga

There’s a Marsh in St. Nicholas’ Church
MARSH
[Enclosed with this is a sandstone whose inscription has completely eroded, but on its reverse side are mortuary symbols, viz:-skull, hourgass and hand holding scales.[ Erected by Charles Marsh in memory of his mother and father Margaret & Robert Marsh who died 1851-1854. Also his wife Elizabeth LATTIMOR who died 1877. And his wife Susan DOUGLAS who died 1909. The above Charles Marsh died 27th June 1920 aged 86 years.

Though, there’s no indication that John Marsh or his daughter were from Carrickfergus, He was married in Belfast, Jane was born and died in Belfast!

I take it all back, Robert and Margaret Marsh were John Henry Marsh's parents - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:9ZHR-2B5
Oh, and they're all in my family tree!

Wow what a small world we live in. Thank you for clearing up the matter of the church, hopefully it is his plot as well. When I first started researching our family tree many years ago I found this note on the internet, but alas I failed to note the source;

Inscription on the headstone reads. Erected by Jane Marsh in loving memory of my husband John Marsh. Died 14/10/1918, 72 years interred at Barwick. Also daughter Jeannie died 11/6/1906. age 14 yrs. Also sons Robert & John May died as infants. Also sister Elizabeth

I have tried to look up Barwick Northern Ireland but couldn't find anything. His son Hugh came to Australia  and Hugh's son Ralph Marsh did a huge amount of research into the family in the 1970's and he seemed to think he was buried in Carrickfergus, hence my previous question.

Thanks again,

Andrew

PS I tried to link my site but I cannot do it as I don't have that privilege. If you google Blighty to Baghdad you will find my site, just click on the family tree tab. It is a work in progress.

I bet it's Carrick not Barwick, Carrickfergus is known locally as Carrick. I'll find your tree and send a link to mine.

Hello! New member here :)

Was curious if there was any information on the Irwin or Erwin surname?  We have information that my line left Ireland in 1847-8...

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!
