I used to live near Little Flower but never went there.
Knew one girl who did - Helen Clancy who lived near me.
Heard she married a wealthy farmer.
Was intrigued by such different impressions
Any reasons to account for them?

hello, ge welcome to the forum.

I hated it because i had a sister who was a year above me. Academia came easy to her she sailed through the whole thing.  I wasn't stupid person but i found it more difficult. i don't get on well in situations which are ridged and strict. I always had somewhere else to go and something else to do. i hated being slapped with the cane all the time as well. I wasn't a bad girl i was somewhat wild but never did anything really bad, just a little naughty. All i ever heard was 'Oh your sister never did that, your sister is cleverer than you, she does her homework on time she doesn't ask as many questions as you' on and on.

There was only one teacher i had any time for, she seemed to understand me and did what she could to accommodate me. In return i did my very best for her i worked hard in her class.

But, i don't hold any grudges, it would be so different now. it was a lot to do with the times we lived in as well.

Gosh Belle, thanks for such an honest reply
Belated Christmas greetings but I am in time to wish you all the best for 2013.
Hope it's a great one for you.
It must have been awful being compared non-stop to your older sister - no recognition of you as an individual
Just you not coming up to some standard she set which fitted in with their ideal
To say nothing of the canings
Have noticed that is common in a lot of memories of school days
My school didn't cane - just heavily applied psychological pressure to conform
As you said, all in the past now, belonged to those times, hope kids have a better deal today
best wishes
Ge

I have no baggage from school that's the truth, i dealt with it a very long time ago.  i think schools are better now than they were when i went. thank God :-*

Thanks for the good wishes Belle, glad to hear you dumped all the baggage from your school a long time ago
As I said I didn't go there - just lived nearby and was curious about two such opposite replies
