the Linen Hall Bar
« on: April 01, 2013, 07:44:28 PM »
I used to work in the Linen Hall Bar c1990. What a great place that was. (the pub signage is still up on the building, even though it has been closed for 21 years!!) Great music in the back bar with bands such as Apartment, Shades of Blue, The Gents etc. Good times! Anyone remember this place and any stories about it?

Best bar in Belfast at the time. Business people and journalists in the front bar and rock, metal and blues in the back bar. Used to work there myself when I was a student at Queen's for a few years before I left Ireland.U[/size]sed to love working Saturday afternoons with Eddy on keyboard.

Great craic...good memories...
Some memorable staff parties (bowling...football against the king's head at belvoir...)
Remember you very well Rowly!

But it didn't open until the 70s and the show bands were only a memory..I think your remembering the wrong bar.

I used to drink in the Linenhall bar in the late 80s and early 90s on a Saturday night. It was a great wee pub. I remember Shades of Blue playing in it. They played a fair bit of Van Morrison stuff. Apart from Apartment and the Gents were there any other regular bands? What bands played in Morrisons in Bedford Street? I used to go there as well.
