Hi crooksy, glad I got the second picture posted. The guy playing the trombone is Roy who is married to Bob Agnews daughter Carol. She played clarinet in the band like yourself, you may remember her. Two other clarinet players were Bertie Marshall and Tom McCoy.

hi  Bothy that's great pictures,  I played around 61-62 I was only fourteen then Roy Smith was my journeyman we both worked in Castle Press for Bob, Roy was the Compositor and I was his apprentice, which was a laugh for I couldn't spell to save my life, still can't, every time I use my spell checker on the computer,.. a little box comes up and says ..."go get your parents"..I'm going to enlarge the photo's get a better look,
thanks again Crooksy
ps.. did you know a young guy played tenor sax around the same time he  lived off shore road near Donegal park avenue

Can't be sure but it might be the Crumlin Road end of Tennent Street near the bandhall.

Sonofshanks, I am wondering if you are in any way connected to the Kells family from Tennent Street?
The Shanks name is in my family, something to do with my Grandma Kells.  My Mother is Kells along with Mary, Elsie, Harold, Jim, David  and Nora.  Would love to chat if there is family ties here. Thank you.

Hi Maggie, I only use the Shanks name for the Belfast Forum, it's not my real name. Once knew a fellow called Kells, Wee Wesley Kells was my boss in Mackies and came from around the Ballysilian Road area.
