Great idea TC 8)

If there are any musicians in the Belfast area interested in joining a new band please contact Ruth as she's interested in forming her own band and would like to hear from drummers, and bass or lead guitarists. Musicians who are interested in auditioning to play in a band with Ruth should contact her via a PM on the Forum or via her MySpace site www.myspace.com/ruthmcgonagle

Merry Christmas Christopher. Coats

There is no auditioning in Belfast for a gig  In reality one relies on who is known to be able to perform and do the job.  This is nonsense, at its best !!!!!
The big names get the job and the rest pick up and scramble for what is left.
This is sorting out the men from the boys.
Just think about who you would pick if you needed competent musician  You go by the TRUE reputation that these finer musicians have attained.
It only takes one or two inquiries
EG
A top star from the USA or elsewhere coming to Belfast does not ask people to audition.  They contact a TOP player and ask him to be the FIXER and that is it

You know what M you are right. Just finished watching a documentary on Chuck Berry. After agents and show promoters ripped him off for years he decided to look after himself. Drove to a City had prearranged for a local band to back him up. Arrived at the Gig. Met the band . Ask them a few questions and then played the Gig. Never failed. After the Gig was over he got paid cash and drove to the next City. The Bruce Springsteen band, in their early days, was one of his backup bands.

how do i get in to find this thread???

Oops :-[ Sorry, Ruth.

We seem to be ignoring your query. It's OK your message is now on this thread too. Click here to see your message on the Wanted section of the Classified board.

M, you're right.

Keith Donald who plays in a well known band ... the Moving Hearts, and many others like him, not only play in such bands but also work as session musicians and have international reputations. When topline musicians are required for recording sessions or similar musical events they receive a message asking if they're free. A large number of these guys use Ireland as their base. Many of them are not averse to visiting small venues and playing there just for the craic.

Have a listen to Ruth's updates ... She has a group playing with her as well as another singer on her MySpace page myspace.com/ruthmcgonagle Put the date of Ruth's next gig in your diaries and try to get down to the Rotterdam on Thursday 24th April to give her some support.
