The Two M'S - Tommy Mathews + Tommy Madden
« on: February 03, 2014, 09:36:22 PM »
It's a long shot, but has anyone got any photographs of The Two M's. An entertainment duo who performed on stage
 in the 1940s/1950s around Belfast?

Hello Celtdunm

My dear Mother just passed away.... talked often about the Two M's. She talked about them in relation to the McGarry family that she visited in Thames St. Maybe there was some connection.  Isn't it a small world. B.

That would be my uncle, Ned McGarry. Unfortunately I do not know too much about them. Remember taking a note round to them from my mum when their son James was killed in the USA or Canada (not sure which). He was an entertainer impersonating Al Jolson. Saw him at the Kings Hall when I was about 10 years old
Tommy Mathews was going to teach me how to play the accordion but unfortunately passed away, that would be around 1957/58.

The previous title should have read Tommy Matthews & "HECTOR" Madden.

These 3 pics were kindly sent to me by Gerard Lidster who inherited them from his mother, The inscription on the back of one of the pics is from Harry (Hector) Madden to his father George Lidster who lived around the Falls Road area.

Hi , my Dad was Hector Madden, ( real name Hector Fitzsimmons  ) unfortunately I have very little memorabilia from his time on stage , he died relatively early in 1973. I would dearly love to hear from anyone who has any memories or tales of his shenanigans.
