I'm just adding to some of the old Malone Place threads as it may be useful for contributors to know that a link to the document "Malone Place Hospital - a short history with notes" has been posted to the Belfast History & Memories subforum.

The very well written and produced work, can be read online, and or also downloaded as a 708 KB size PDF format document file, which most computers should be able to open and display for offline viewing. http://pc.cd/tEhrtalK

My mother did her midwifery training here, probably 1944/45/46. She had already done her SRN at Ards. She often talked about her time in the hospital, especially the unmarried mothers, some of whom were from well to do English families, went away to have their babies away from prying eyes. They lived in the hospital for quite a while and remained with their babies for at least 3 months. As you can imagine they had bonded and mum still got emotional talking about the heartbreak when the babies were taken away. She did her best to provide comfort. When she left, the girls clubbed together and gave her a leather writing case, I still have it. Mum did her district training in Sandy Row and the Ormeau Road. The doctor in charge was Dr Elizabeth Robb.

Lea, you need to let the Forum know what you are actually looking for.

Lea, Iíve just seen another post from you on the Genealogy thread where you mention some names & Malone Place
May I suggest that you stick to that thread and drop this one, it makes things a lot easier to keep on track.
