Torneys: Wholesale Fruit and Vegetables
« on: August 04, 2014, 08:27:20 PM »
Hi all:

Would anyone have any photos of Torneys circa 1930-1960's? My mother worked there. She'd love to see some photos.

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete

I remember Torneys as they used to deliver fruit and veg to my parents' shop when I was a child.   I do know that back in the late 90's, some of the daughters turned the family home on Andersonstown Road in to a Children's Day Nursery but have no idea if it is still there.  I believe there is already an Andersonstown thread on here, you might get some info if you post the same thing on there. Good luck in your search.

Thank you Astor, very kind of you to reply.

I shall search there too.  My mum not too well at the moment and I though some photos might give her a wee lift.

Her family lived on the corner of the Falls and the Whiterock, but all moved away now.

Thanks again

Pete : )
