Irish Pipers Band of San Francisco Annual Fundraiser
« on: November 02, 2007, 07:07:54 PM »
Hiya everyone! New to the forum here. Was actually recommended that I post a bulletin from MySpace here in the hopes to get a bit more attention. Anyhow, the long and short of it is that I am a piper in the US in the Bushmills Irish Pipers Pipe Band of SF, Calif. We are conducting a fundraiser this year in the hopes of getting to Ireland for the All-Ireland Championships. Just wanted to post the info here in the event that some of you expats or you relatives of said expats would be interested in joining us and supporting your LOCAL IRISH PIPE BAND!!!

Thanks! All the best!
Ryan, the Birmingham Bagpiper

Irish Pipers Band of San Francisco Annual Fundraiser

In celebration of our 75th anniversary, the Irish Pipers Band has set a goal to take both competition bands to Ireland in 2008 to compete at the All-Ireland Pipe Band Championships. Scheduled to take place on July 5 (location still to be determined by the Irish Pipe Band Association), the All-Ireland hosts bands from all over Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Canada, and the United States.

Seeing that we’re already going to be over in the old sod, we’re also going to take a crack at the Munster Provincial Championships scheduled for July 12 in the town of Tulla in County Clare.

It’s a daunting task to raise the necessary funds to transport 45-50 pipers and drummers, all the instruments (drums take up an awful lot of space!) and uniforms, not to mention our support team to coordinate all the details: hotels, buses, trucks, food! Our estimated expenses will exceed $75,000!

Wish us luck!

Wait! What’s that you say? "How can I help?" We’re glad you asked!

Our annual fundraiser is scheduled for December 8 at the United Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco. The evening will include a sit-down dinner, entertainment by the band, Irish step-dancers, traditional musicians, a live auction, and (shhhh…) a silent auction, as well as a mystery key treasure chest, quick raffles, and more. Please join us. The cost is just $75 per person. Click the link below to pre-order your tickets and make sure you won’t miss this event.

In addition, there’s also a raffle (you need not be present to win) featuring the Grand Prize of a cruise for two around the British Isles (valued at $15,790) generously donated by High Country Passage. The many other prizes also include two round-trip tickets from San Francisco to Ireland on Aer Lingus, which is starting non-stop service to Ireland from San Francisco on October 28. Raffle tickets are just $5 each and can also be obtained through our website (minimum purchase of 4 tickets per person please).
